Description
The CDL12P is an active constant-directivity loudspeaker engineered to deliver focused, even coverage for speech and music. It combines a segmented HF array and a long-throw 12in LF transducer to maintain consistent SPL on- and off-axis. The lightweight design is optimized for touring use and mobile sound reinforcement.
Key features include a patented hybrid point-source/line-array HF array of eight 2in cone drivers and a 12in low-frequency driver. Onboard DSP provides array presets, high-pass filtering and subwoofer presets to simplify system setup. Integrated pin-loaded rigging and a dual-angle pole mount support flexible deployment options.
Performance highlights include a low 420 Hz crossover point to minimize comb filtering, a 120deg horizontal by 15deg vertical coverage pattern, and Class D amplification rated at 500W x 500W. Peak SPL reaches 130 dB and THD is specified below 0.05% across 20 Hz to 20 kHz. The speaker uses matched voice coils and shared amplifier architecture to reduce power compression and preserve transient detail.
Connectivity is straightforward with a single XLR input and a direct XLR line output for daisy-chaining. The input stage presents a 40 kΩ impedance and the unit accepts 100-240 VAC power via locking AC in/out connectors. Onboard DSP includes array modes for 1-6 boxes and subwoofer configuration presets for CDL18s, ULT18, or AIR18s.
The CDL12P is suitable for small to medium venues, touring bands, mobile DJs, and installed sound systems that require consistent coverage and speech intelligibility. Use it as a standalone mains cabinet, as part of a flown or ground-stacked array, or pole-mounted singly or in pairs. Its constant-directivity pattern makes it effective in venues where off-axis clarity matters.
Installation and day-to-day operation are simplified by integrated rigging rated 10:1, a dual-position pole mount, and onboard DSP presets that reduce tuning time. The enclosure combines a rugged lightweight plastic cabinet and a tour-grade 1.2 mm steel grille to balance durability and weight. PreSonus backs the CDL series with a six-year warranty for added peace of mind.
