Description
The RE90P-12 is a 12 inch gooseneck podium microphone designed for speech reinforcement and public address. It uses a back-electret miniature condenser element to provide extended frequency response and increased sensitivity. The microphone is tailored to deliver natural close-up vocal pickup while minimizing handling noise.
Key features include a cardioid polar pattern, low 200 ohm output, and a machined steel electronics housing that reduces EMI and RFI. The small-diameter gooseneck combines two flexible joints and a rigid center tube for precise positioning and resistance to twisting. The back-electret design yields wider frequency response and superior immunity to handling artifacts compared to diaphragm-electret types.
Performance specifications include a frequency response of 70 Hz to 15 kHz at 3 in and 100 Hz to 15 kHz at 5 in, a sensitivity of 4.5 mV/Pa at 1 kHz, and a dynamic range of 102 dB. The microphone is optimized for close speech pickup while retaining clarity at longer distances. These metrics support intelligible, natural speech reproduction in live sound and installed PA systems.
Connectivity is provided by an XLR-type 3-pin base that plugs directly into a panel-mount female XLR receptacle. The RE90P-12 requires phantom power and operates from 9 to 52 V phantom supply. Its low output impedance and XLR termination allow long cable runs and straightforward integration with mixing consoles and paging processors.
Typical use cases include lecterns, pulpits, podiums, talkback applications on mixing consoles, and any installed speech reinforcement where an unobtrusive gooseneck is required. The cardioid polar pattern offers high rejection of off-axis sound to reduce feedback and ambient noise. The slim profile keeps the microphone visually unobtrusive while maintaining consistent pickup characteristics.
Installation is quick via the XLR base and bulkhead female XLR receptacles, and optional flange-mount and shock-mount kits are available for permanent installations. The machined steel housing improves durability and RFI attenuation while the gooseneck design permits exact positioning. Overall build quality and mechanical design support reliable long-term use in institutional and professional AV environments.
