Description
The FS-HDR is a rackmount real-time HDR and WCG converter designed to deliver consistent color fidelity and low-latency processing for broadcast, OTT, production, post, and live AV environments. It provides single-channel 4K/UltraHD/2K/HD processing or four independent 2K/HD channels in a compact 1RU chassis. The unit uses the Colorfront Engine to maintain perceptual integrity across SDR and HDR transforms and to protect creative intent.
Key features include real-time HDR to HDR, HDR to SDR and SDR to HDR conversions, support for BT.709 and BT.2020 colorimetry, and parametric controls for highlight and roll-off management. The Colorfront Engine offers TV Mode, Live Mode, and Film Mode transforms plus support for BBC HLG LUTs, NBCU LUTs, user 3D LUTs and dynamic 3D LUTs. Up, down, and cross-conversion together with high-quality frame sync are available in both Four Channel and Single Channel modes.
Performance and technical capabilities include hardware 10-bit processing, motion adaptive deinterlacing, adjustable delay up to 20 frames, and precise audio routing and handling. The unit supports 4K/UltraHD single-link 12G-SDI and multi-link 3G-SDI inputs, automatic down-conversion for monitoring, and PQ output nit control from 48 to 4000 nits. It preserves ancillary data including timecode and closed captions where supported and provides SCTE-104 pass-through and caption conversion.
Connectivity options include 4x 3G-SDI or 4x 12G-SDI inputs and outputs, optional SFP fiber or coax modules, embedded monitor output, HDMI monitor output with HDR infoframe support, AES and MADI audio I/O, balanced AES on DB-25 and MADI fiber or coax. Network control is available via 1GbE with embedded web server, REST interface and SNMP support. Reference inputs include looped blackburst or tri-level sync and the unit can genlock or free-run from TCXO.
FS-HDR is suited to live broadcast chains, OB trucks, post production finishing, camera on-set preview, and OTT HDR delivery workflows that require consistent HDR/SDR round-tripping. Typical applications include converting camera log formats into HDR spaces, managing HDR to SDR deliverables, and producing simultaneous 4K and HD outputs in live events or playout. The Colorfront Engine modes simplify highlight handling and maintain color relationships for brand-critical graphics and on-camera color.
Installation and operation are straightforward using the front panel keypad, rotary encoders, or remote web/REST control. The compact 1RU form factor, redundant power supplies, and comprehensive alarm indicators suit 24/7 installations. Robust audio routing, extensive presets, and nonvolatile LUT storage make deployment and day-to-day operation efficient and reliable.
