Description
The HDP3 is a compact 3G-SDI to DVI-D converter designed to deliver reliable video scaling and display compatibility for professional video sources. It accepts 3G/HD/SD-SDI inputs and provides a DVI-D output compatible with HDMI displays via adapter. The unit supports 1080p50, 59.94, and 60 formats and adapts automatically to a wide range of monitors and projectors.
The converter includes a high quality scaling engine and de-interlacer that intelligently sizes 4:3 or 16:9 inputs to common DVI-D display resolutions. It supports 1-to-1 pixel mapping when required and can preserve aspect ratios while scaling to fit displays up to 1920×1200 and full 1080p. The device also supports HDMI 1.3a features via a DVI-D to HDMI adapter including deep color and embedded audio options.
On the audio side the HDP3 extracts SDI embedded audio and offers user-assignable 2-channel analog RCA monitoring at -10dBu nominal. It retains up to 8 channels of 24-bit embedded audio on the SDI loop output and can pass 2 or 8 channels of embedded audio on the DVI/HDMI path. The converter operates from a regulated 5-20VDC power source and typically consumes 6.5 watts.
Connectivity is straightforward with a single 3G-SDI input, SDI loop output, and a DVI Type D female connector for display output. Configuration and firmware updates are available via USB using AJA Mini-Config on Mac or PC. The HDP3 responds to EDID information from connected monitors to automatically determine the optimal output format and scaling parameters.
This unit is ideal for monitoring, presentations, post production convenience monitoring, and integration into broadcast and live production racks where cost-effective DVI/HDMI displays are used. It is small enough to fit behind monitors or on camera rigs and includes a locking power connector to prevent accidental disconnects. The HDP3 is backed by AJA’s five year warranty for professional deployments.
Installation is simple and user-focused – connect SDI, attach a DVI/HDMI display, and use Mini-Config to refine settings if needed. The device supports USB configuration for firmware updates and parameter control, making remote provisioning possible before deployment. The durable compact metal housing and industry-standard connectors support repeated field use and rack integration.
