Description
The ROI-DVI Scan Converter converts computer DVI and HDMI outputs into baseband SDI video in a compact form factor. It provides Region of Interest scaling to extract and scale a portion of a computer display to common SDI output formats. This product is designed to integrate computer graphics and presentation sources into broadcast and pro AV workflows with minimal setup.
The converter supports DVI loop-through so a local monitor can remain connected while the SDI feed is generated. It performs up, down and cross-conversion plus aspect ratio and frame rate conversion using AJA scaling algorithms. Additional image controls include H/V flip, 90 degree rotation and conversion between deinterlaced and progressive signals.
Input support includes computer signals up to WUXGA 1920 x 1200 at 60 Hz and a range of SD and HD formats on output including 3G-SDI 1080p. The device accepts embedded audio up to 8 channels and a 2-channel balanced analog input via a 3.5mm TRS. Genlock options include reference input, DVI input or free run and the DVI receiver is limited by a 166 mHz max pixel rate.
Connectivity includes a single DVI input with embedded audio and a DVI loop-through output, plus a single 3G-SDI BNC output compatible with SMPTE-259/292/424. Audio routing and source selection are controlled via the supplied Mini-Config software over USB on Mac or Windows. The SDI output supports 24-bit embedded audio in 2-channel or 8-channel configurations.
Typical use cases include live presentations, broadcast ingest of computer graphics, and OB or studio applications where computer output must be converted to SDI. The ROI feature removes UI clutter and menu bars by extracting only the portion of the screen required and scaling it to the target resolution. This makes the unit ideal for conferences, playback systems and monitoring scenarios that require precise image framing.
The ROI-DVI is compact and portable, sized to fit behind monitors, in racks or on camera rigs and ships with a universal power supply supporting 100-240V input. Configuration is simple via USB and Mini-Config software and the locking power connector helps prevent accidental disconnection. AJA backs the product with a five year warranty and professional support for integration into production systems.
