Description
The Hi5-Plus is a compact SDI-to-HDMI mini-converter designed to bridge professional 3G-SDI sources and HDMI displays. It converts 1080PsF formats to progressive 1080p and supports a wide range of HD and SD video formats. The unit is intended for monitoring and recording workflows where HDMI displays must be integrated into SDI systems.
Key capabilities include full 3G-SDI input handling, HDMI 1.4 output with Deep Color RGB support, and embedded audio pass-through. The converter accepts up to 16 channels of embedded SDI audio and maps selectable channels to up to 8 channels of embedded HDMI audio. A two-channel RCA analog output is provided for direct monitoring or downstream analog devices.
Video performance covers 1080p, 1080i, 1080PsF, 720p and SD formats at standard broadcast frame rates. Output color modes include 8-bit RGB 4:4:4, 10-bit YCbCr 4:2:2 and 12-bit modes where supported by the HDMI sink. The converter can delay audio from 0 to 7 frames to maintain accurate AV sync with the output signal.
Connectivity includes a 3G-SDI input with embedded audio, an HDMI output with up to 8 channels of embedded audio, a 2-channel RCA analog output, and a USB port for configuration via Mini-Config software. The unit is compatible with HDMI monitors that accept Deep Color RGB signals and will present progressive signals from incoming PsF sources. Configuration and firmware updates are managed over USB on macOS and Windows.
Typical use cases include integrating HDMI monitors into SDI-based edit suites, on-set monitoring, and live event monitoring where PsF sources must be displayed as progressive video. The compact footprint allows placement behind monitors, in racks, or on camera rigs when space is limited. Professional productions benefit from the color fidelity and audio routing options when working in RGB workflows.
Installation is straightforward using the USB-configurable Mini-Config utility and a universal power supply. The unit features a locking power connector and supports battery power options via optional P-TAP cable in remote locations. A five year warranty provides long-term support and reliability for broadcast and production environments.
