Description
The FS-Mini is a compact broadcast-grade 3G-SDI utility frame sync designed to align untimed SDI video to a facility reference. It synchronizes 3G/HD/SD signals and provides simultaneous SDI and HDMI outputs for production and monitoring. The unit performs up, down and cross-conversion while maintaining 10-bit video processing quality.
Key features include a 3G-SDI input and output, HDMI monitoring output, selectable RCA analog monitoring outputs and 16-channel embedded SDI audio I/O. It supports frame rate conversion, 3:2 pulldown handling and loss-of-input management modes such as Freeze, Black, or Mute. The device accepts external blackburst or tri-level reference signals and can also genlock to the SDI input or run free.
Technically the FS-Mini supports CbCr 4:2:2 10-bit processing and accepts single-link 3G-SDI Level A signals per SMPTE-425-1 as well as SMPTE-292 and SMPTE-259 standards. Nominal video latency is one frame and HDMI output supports 8- or 10-bit color in YCbCr or RGB with SMPTE or Full RGB ranges. Audio handling includes 16-channel embedded SDI input/output at 48 kHz and selectable 2-channel RCA analog monitor outputs at -10 dBu nominal.
Connectivity includes 1x 3G-SDI BNC input, 1x 3G-SDI BNC output, 1x HDMI type A monitor output and a BNC reference input. USB configuration via Mini-Config is provided for PC/Mac control and firmware updates, and external DIP switches enable quick local setup. The unit passes embedded PCM audio and can pass non-PCM audio only when the source is time-locked to the selected reference; other ancillary data are not passed.
The FS-Mini is suitable for live event production, broadcast ingest, monitoring and system integration where untimed SDI sources must be locked and converted to house formats. Typical applications include camera feed alignment, playback device synchronization and converting between 1080i/720p/SD formats while providing an HDMI monitor feed. Its small form factor supports mobile workflows and temporary installations where rack space is limited.
Installation is straightforward – power the unit with the supplied universal power adapter, connect SDI input and reference, then set DIP switches or use Mini-Config over USB to select output formats and audio routing. The enclosure is compact and robust for field use and the unit ships with a five year warranty. Firmware updates and configuration via Mini-Config simplify maintenance and integration into professional AV environments.
