Description
The SN3402P is a secure serial-to-Ethernet device server that connects legacy RS-232 / RS-422 / RS-485 equipment to IP networks. It enables remote access to serial devices over Ethernet and supports secure management and encrypted communications. The unit is optimized for industrial environments where reliable serial data transport is required.
Key features include two software-configurable serial ports, multiple secure and standard operation modes, and built-in Modbus gateway functionality. The SN3402P supports Secure Real COM, Secure TCP Server / Client, Secure Serial Tunneling Server / Client, and SSH-based console management. It also provides standard modes such as Real COM, TCP Server / Client, Serial Tunneling, UDP, and Telnet console access.
Performance and reliability are provided through software-configurable RS-485 termination and pull high/low resistors, extensive baud rate support up to 921600 bps, and 64 KB port buffering to prevent data loss during network outages. The device supports up to 16 simultaneous connections per port and integrates Modbus TCP with Modbus RTU / ASCII for protocol translation. Surge protection and 1.5 kV magnetic isolation are included to protect communications in noisy environments.
Connectivity options include 2 x DB-9 male serial ports, a 10/100 Mbps RJ-45 network port with PoE (IEEE 802.3af) support, a DC jack, and a 3-pin terminal block for redundant power input. Management is available via a browser-based GUI, a web quick-setup wizard, and Telnet / SSH console access, and it supports SNMP, Syslog, NTP, SMTP event notifications, and RADIUS authentication.
The SN3402P is designed for industrial process control, SCADA, remote site management, POS systems, access control, and sensor monitoring. It provides secure remote access to serial devices, event notification for device offline detection, and comprehensive logging for troubleshooting. The compact metal housing supports DIN-rail, wall, desktop, and rack mounting.
Installation is straightforward using the 3-step web console setup or low-bandwidth Telnet / SSH console. The device supports firmware upgrades, backup and restore of configuration, and multi-language GUI. With PoE support and redundant power inputs, the SN3402P offers a secure and dependable serial-to-Ethernet solution for commercial and industrial deployments.
