The VS0801A is an 8-port VGA switcher designed to connect multiple VGA video and stereo audio sources to a single display. It allows seamless selection between eight computers or AV sources and supports both manual and automatic switching. The unit is built for shared presentation environments where multiple sources must be accessed quickly and reliably.
Key capabilities include auto switching with power-on detection, RS-232 control, IR remote control, and front-panel pushbuttons. The switcher handles stereo audio and provides front-panel LED indicators to show the active input at a glance. A port-switching VGA cable can be used to trigger direct port selection, though that cable is sold separately.
On the performance side the VS0801A supports up to 300 MHz video bandwidth and delivers high-resolution VGA signals. The product documentation lists support for resolutions up to 2048 x 1536 @ 60Hz and a technical table entry showing up to 1920 x 1440 in certain configurations. Transmission distances are detailed in the technical data and include multiple distance metrics for different cable and signal conditions.
Connectivity includes eight HDB-15 VGA inputs, one HDB-15 VGA output, eight mini stereo audio inputs and one mini stereo audio output. Control and automation are supported via a bi-directional RS-232 DB-9 port and the bundled IR remote and front-panel controls. The switcher also supports Dynamic DDC to read EDID information and Video Dyna Sync to optimize timing when switching sources.
The VS0801A is suited to meeting rooms, classrooms, media centers and other multi-source AV installations.
