The Kramer VS-8UFX is an 8-port SDI matrix switcher that allows each port to be assigned as an input or output. It handles SDI signals up to 12Gbps and supports 4K@60 4:2:2 operation. The unit is designed for professional AV and broadcast environments requiring flexible SDI routing.
VS-8UFX provides interchangeable inputs and outputs and features Kramer equalization and re-Klocking technology to restore signal integrity. It supports embedded ancillary data such as audio, teletext, and time code. The switcher includes memory presets to store and recall routing configurations.
The unit supports multiple SMPTE standards including ST-2082-1, SMPTE 424M, SMPTE 292M, and SMPTE 259M/344M. Maximum data rate is 12Gbps and the maximum resolution supported is 4K@60Hz 4:2:2. Cable equalization extends SD signals up to 300m and HD/3G ranges according to signal bandwidth.
Connectivity includes eight BNC SDI ports configurable as inputs or outputs, a 75 ohm BNC genlock input, RS-232 control, Ethernet/web control, USB host support and an LCD for local status. Front-panel buttons provide direct switching and the unit offers clean switching when sources are genlocked. Control compatibility covers common web browsers and remote control protocols.
Typical applications include broadcast routing, OB vans, live event production, post-production facilities, and AV installations requiring flexible SDI distribution. The VS-8UFX is suitable for environments where genlock, embedded audio support, and long cable runs are required. Memory presets simplify repetitive workflows and fast source switching.
