The Kramer VS-88UT is an 8×4 HDMI/HDBaseT matrix switcher that combines video switching, audio embedding/de-embedding, USB extension and a built-in room control master. It supports resolutions up to 4K@60Hz (4:2:0) and HDBaseT 2.0 extension for long-reach AV distribution. The unit is designed to centralize AV routing and control in boardrooms, lecture halls and professional AV installs.
Key features include simultaneous HDMI and HDBaseT outputs, USB 1.1/2.0 extension over HDBaseT, PoE on HDBaseT outputs, and multiple audio I/O modes including balanced line, unbalanced stereo and amplified speaker output. The matrix supports Kramer reKlocking and equalization to maintain signal integrity over extended distances. Advanced EDID management, audio breakaway and AFV (audio-follow-video) are supported to simplify source compatibility.
Performance highlights include a maximum data rate of 10.2 Gbps (3.4 Gbps per graphics channel) and HDCP/HDMI/DVI compliance. HDBaseT extension reach is up to 100m at 4K@60Hz (4:2:0) and longer distances for Full HD depending on mode. USB tunneling bandwidth supports up to 127 Mbps and Ethernet tunneling supports up to 100 Mbps for remote device control and management.
Connectivity is extensive: 4 HDMI inputs plus 4 selectable HDMI/HDBaseT inputs, 6 HDMI outputs and 2 HDBaseT outputs, USB type-A and type-B hubs, balanced and unbalanced audio I/O, IR ports, RS-232/RS-485 serial ports, GPI/O, relays and a K-NET connector for auxiliary control keypads. The integrated master room controller provides RS-232, RS-485, IR, GPI/O and 8 relay ports for external device control. Ethernet control and Kramer Network compatibility enable remote management and up to 15 simultaneous IP control clients.
Typical applications include corporate boardrooms, lecture halls, training rooms and auditoriums where multiple HDMI sources must be distributed to several displays and control systems. The VS-88UT supports simultaneous HDMI and HDBaseT distribution, USB peripheral extension, and amplified audio output for local speakers. Auto-switching, auto-scanning and global mute simplify operation during presentations and emergencies.
Installation is rack-ready with a 2U aluminum enclosure and fan ventilation, standard 100-240V AC power, and non-volatile memory to retain last settings. Firmware upgrades are provided via Ethernet and Kramer K-Config compatibility streamlines configuration and room deployment.
