Description
The VS-88HDxl is an 8×8 SDI matrix switcher designed to route SDI, HD-SDI and 3G HD-SDI signals between multiple sources and destinations. It supports synchronized vertical interval switching to minimize visual artifacts and provides equalized, reclocked outputs for consistent signal integrity. The unit is rack-mountable in a standard 1U 19 inch enclosure and operates from a universal 100-240V AC supply.
Key features include support for SMPTE 259M/292M/344M/372M/424M formats, automatic equalization, and dual-link HD-SDI compatibility. The switcher can execute multiple input-to-output changes simultaneously via a dedicated Take button and store preset salvos for fast recall. Selectable sync termination and a looping analog sync input accommodate a variety of synchronization strategies.
Performance-wise the VS-88HDxl handles up to 2.97 Gbps data rates and delivers 800 mVpp output amplitude into 75 ohm loads. Each output is equalized and reclocked to restore timing and signal shape after cable runs. Vertical interval switching is implemented according to SMPTE RP-168 when sources are gen-locked, ensuring glitch-free transitions for synchronized feeds.
Connectivity options cover eight BNC SDI inputs and eight BNC SDI outputs, plus front-panel control and an 8-character display for local operation. Remote control is available via RS-232, RS-485, Ethernet, contact-closure inputs, and an IR remote. Control integration is supported through Kramer K-Router Windows software and standard serial/IP command sets.
The VS-88HDxl is suited to broadcast, video production, and live event facilities where multiple SDI sources must be routed to multiviewers, recorders, or displays.
