The Kramer VP-550X is a professional presentation switcher and scaler designed to accept and scale multiple HDMI, USB-C, VGA and composite video sources. It provides mirrored HDMI outputs and balanced stereo audio output to simplify signal distribution in meeting rooms, auditoriums and AV systems. The unit supports high-resolution sources up to 4K@60 (4:4:4) and complies with HDCP 2.2.
The VP-550X includes advanced video processing features including selectable aspect ratios, a built-in ProcAmp for color/hue/contrast control, and Kramer PixPerfect pixel mapping to ensure accurate scaling. It supports HDR10, CEC and xvYCC color on input and passes multi-channel audio formats such as Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. The scaler maintains constant output sync to prevent black screens during input switching.
Audio handling is flexible with options to use embedded digital audio or companion analog audio inputs for analog embedding or bypassing embedded streams. A dedicated microphone input with optional 48V phantom power supports talk-over and mixing functions, while DSP provides equalization, mixing and delay. The device de-embeds audio to a balanced stereo analog output while also sending embedded audio on the HDMI outputs.
Connectivity covers seven HDMI inputs, one USB-C input (Alt-DP, provides power), one VGA input and one composite video input, plus mirrored dual HDMI outputs. Control options include front panel buttons, IR remote, RS-232, and Ethernet with embedded web pages for remote management. Non-volatile memory saves configuration settings for recall after power cycles.
The VP-550X is designed for installation in a 19 inch 1U rack shelf and includes rack ears and a universal 100-240V AC power supply. Convection ventilation provides passive cooling and the aluminum enclosure supports professional AV installations. Operating range covers typical indoor temperatures and humidity levels found in AV rooms.
This switcher/scaler is applicable to boardrooms, classrooms, houses of worship, hotels and home theaters where multiple legacy and modern sources must be integrated into a single 4K display pipeline.
