The VP-440X is an 18G 4K HDR presentation switcher and scaler designed to manage multiple AV sources and deliver two simultaneous outputs – HDMI and HDBaseT. It accepts four HDMI inputs plus one computer graphics (VGA) input and provides analog stereo audio and a front-panel microphone input. The unit scales, embeds audio, and maintains continuous output sync to prevent glitches during switching.
Key capabilities include upscaling, downscaling and cross-scaling up to 4K@60 4:4:4 on the HDMI output and 4K@60 4:2:0 on the HDBaseT output when bandwidth requires chroma down-sampling. The VP-440X supports HDR10 and HDCP 2.2 and 1.4 to ensure compatibility with modern HDR sources and protected content. Audio processing includes DSP functions such as equalization, mixing, delay and microphone talk-over (ducking).
Performance highlights include a constant output sync mode that prevents output glitches while switching, EDID pass-through for source/display negotiation, and bidirectional RS-232 extension for serial device control over the extension link. HDBaseT extension reaches up to 40m (130ft) at 4K@60Hz 4:2:0 and up to 70m (230ft) at 1080p. The HDBT output automatically down-samples chroma sampling when configured to 18G 4K resolutions.
Connectivity options cover four HDMI inputs, one VGA input, simultaneous HDMI and HDBaseT outputs, an unbalanced analog stereo output, a front-panel microphone input and a selectable analog input for embedding. Control is available via front-panel OSD and buttons, embedded web pages over Ethernet, RS-232 serial control and a contact-closure connector for source switching and display toggling. CEC pass-through can automatically power displays off after timeout and power them up when input resumes.
The VP-440X is suited for boardrooms, lecture halls, and presentation environments where multiple source types must be consolidated and distributed to a display and a remote HDBaseT receiver. It supports common professional workflows by preserving signal integrity, enabling audio embedding and providing DSP audio control for live talk-over scenarios. The unit also supports EDID management to help ensure reliable handshake between sources and displays.
Installation and operation are simplified by the unit’s half 19 inch form factor for 1U rack mounting with an adapter and multiple control interfaces for integration into AV systems. The front-panel mic input and easy audio embedding options streamline setup in meeting spaces and classrooms. Robust firmware and network control options support remote management and ongoing maintenance.
