The Kramer VP-429H2 is a multi-format presentation switcher and scaler designed to accept HDMI, DisplayPort, VGA and unbalanced audio sources and deliver a single HDMI output. It scales incoming signals up to 4K@60Hz (4:4:4) and supports HDCP 2.2 to ensure compatibility with modern protected content. The unit offers hardware Step-In switching to simplify ad-hoc collaboration when paired with a Step-In enabled switcher.
The VP-429H2 provides selectable automatic input switching using live input detection and allows per-input HDCP enable/disable. It supports EDID copy and save for HDMI and DisplayPort inputs and lets integrators define output refresh rate and aspect ratio to match displays. Additional video features include Deep Color, x.v.Color and 3D HDMI support for full signal fidelity.
On the performance side the device maintains a constant output sync to prevent display disruption when switching inputs or when an input loses video. The scaler handles all standard resolutions up to 4K@60Hz (4:4:4) and passes high-bandwidth HDMI 2.0 signals to the HDMI output. The scaler and switching logic are tuned for seamless source changes and predictable output timing.
Connectivity includes two HDMI inputs, one DisplayPort input, one VGA input and an HDMI output plus unbalanced audio input. Control options include front-panel input buttons and DIP-switches, Ethernet with embedded web pages, RS-232 serial ports for device and display control, and GPI/contact-closure Step-In switching. EDID management and HDCP controls improve compatibility with a wide range of sources and displays.
The VP-429H2 fits meeting rooms, classrooms and boardrooms where multiple device types need to be presented reliably. It supports quick presenter switching via Step-In and allows centralized control over RS-232 or IP for AV system integration. Typical applications include conference rooms, huddle spaces and lecture halls where mixed-source support and simple control are required.
Installation is simplified by the compact MegaTOOLS fan-less enclosure that supports surface mounting or side-by-side mounting of two units in a single U with the recommended rack adapter. The fan-less design reduces audible noise and improves reliability. Setup is straightforward using front-panel controls, DIP-switches or the embedded web GUI for integrators and AV technicians.
