The VM8814 is a 4-port 4K HDMI output board designed to be installed in ATEN modular matrix switches. It provides four HDMI outputs and audio extraction to route HDMI sources to multiple displays. The board is engineered for video-critical installations that require fast switching and resolution adaptation.
The board integrates a built-in 4K scaler to adapt input resolutions to optimal display resolutions and supports Seamless Switch to enable near real-time switching. EDID Expert is included to manage EDID settings and ensure consistent image quality on power-up. Additional features such as FrameSync and a Cable Quality Tester help maintain stable, tear-free video delivery.
Performance specifications include a maximum data rate of 10.2 Gbps and a maximum pixel clock of 340 MHz, supporting resolutions up to 4096×2160/3840×2160 at 60Hz in 4:2:0 and 30Hz in 4:4:4. The board is HDCP 2.2 compatible and supports HDMI 3D and Deep Color when Seamless Switch is disabled. Audio extraction is provided through four captive screw connectors supporting stereo balanced or unbalanced signals.
Connectivity includes 4 x HDMI Type A female outputs and 4 x captive screw audio outputs; the module also supports Consumer Electronics Control (CEC). The VM8814 is compatible with ATEN VM1600 and VM3200 modular matrices and is hot-swappable for quick maintenance and reconfiguration. Video Wall layouts can be created and managed via the matrix web GUI when required.
Typical applications include control rooms, broadcast and postproduction monitoring, digital signage walls, and corporate AV distribution where fast switching and resolution scaling are required. The VM8814 is suited to multi-display video wall setups and environments that demand precise EDID management and synchronized frame outputs. It accommodates mixed-resolution sources while preserving display quality.
Installation is simplified by the hot-swappable module design and metal housing for rack durability. The board operates in standard AV environments with an operating temperature range of 0 – 40 C and storage range of -20 – 60 C.
