The VE170Q is a two-piece VGA and audio extender system that transmits VGA video and stereo audio over a single Cat 5e cable. It includes a transmitter and a receiver that work together to extend VGA signals long distances while preserving signal integrity. The system is intended for professional AV installations that require remote display placement without loss of image quality.
Key features include ATEN Deskew technology for RGB timing alignment, adjustable video gain control to compensate for cable loss, and support for one local and one remote VGA display. The extender supports stereo audio through mini stereo jacks and provides built-in ESD protection for reliable operation. The units are rack-mountable and housed in metal enclosures for installation durability.
Performance specifications include a maximum bandwidth of 300 MHz and support for resolutions up to 1920 x 1200 at 30 m and 1024 x 768 at 300 m. The transmitter and receiver both use HDB-15 connectors for video and mini stereo jacks for audio. Power is delivered via DC jacks with nominal consumption of 5.3 VDC, 1.11 W for the transmitter and 5.3 VDC, 0.9 W for the receiver.
Connectivity is achieved over a single Cat 5e cable between the transmitter and receiver, enabling simplified cabling and reduced installation complexity. Local and remote VGA outputs allow a direct local monitoring option at the source while driving a remote display. Control and signal adjustments are available through manual gain and deskew controls to optimize image quality at the receiving end.
Typical applications include conference rooms, digital signage installations, lecture halls, and control rooms where displays must be located away from source equipment. The VE170Q is suitable when a single-link VGA signal and stereo audio must travel long distances without repeated active devices.
