The AJA UDC-R0 is a compact broadcast-quality 3G-SDI up/down/cross converter designed to translate between 3G, HD and SD formats. It delivers high-quality frame-rate and format conversion for live production, post and distribution environments. The unit is engineered for reliable continuous operation in professional AV workflows.
The UDC-R0 supports simultaneous SDI and HDMI outputs while preserving up to 16 channels of embedded SDI audio and providing 2-channel analog RCA outputs. It offers loss-of-input management options including Freeze, Black or Mute to maintain stable output during source interruptions. Genlock options include reference input, SDI input or free run for integration into synchronized systems.
Conversion capabilities include 1080p/1080i/720p and standard definition formats across commonly used frame rates such as 23.98, 24, 25, 29.97, 30, 50, 59.94 and 60. The HDMI output is 10-bit HDMI v1.4a to preserve color depth and signal integrity. Ancillary data support focuses on PCM embedded audio passthrough and conditional non-PCM passthrough when the source is timed to the selected reference.
Connectivity includes a 3G/HD/SD SDI input and SDI output BNC, HDMI output, USB control port and a reference input that accepts tri-level sync or color black references. The unit accepts 16 channels of embedded SDI audio, provides 8-channel HDMI audio output and two RCA analog outputs at -10 dBu nominal. Configuration is available via front-panel DIP switches or AJA Mini-Config over USB on PC or Mac.
Typical applications include live event production, broadcast ingest and format bridging between legacy SD and modern HD workflows. The UDC-R0 is useful when converting camera feeds, archival content or delivering program outputs to monitors and downstream recorders. Its compact form factor allows placement on a camera rig, behind a monitor or within a rack with minimal footprint impact.
Installation is straightforward with a universal power supply and a locking power connector to prevent accidental disconnects. Firmware updates and detailed configuration are managed through AJA’s Mini-Config utility over USB. The UDC-R0 is backed by AJA support and a five year warranty for long-term deployment confidence.
