The TP-121XL is a twisted pair transmitter that extends computer graphics video and unbalanced stereo audio over UTP/STP cabling. It converts a VGA input and analog audio into a balanced twisted pair signal for long-distance transmission to a compatible receiver. The unit is designed to preserve video resolution up to WUXGA and 1080p while maintaining audio integrity.
Key features include EDID capture for display handshaking, interference protection for noisy environments, and a Power Connect system that can power both transmitter and receiver when units are within 60m 200ft. The device supports CAT5 class cabling and provides a system range of more than 250m 820ft. These capabilities simplify signal distribution and reduce installation complexity in extended runs.
Performance specifications include support for WUXGA and 1080p video resolutions, audio bandwidth of 20Hz-20kHz at -3dB, an audio signal-to-noise ratio of 84dB, and audio THD+N below 0.02%. Total audio gain is 0dB for analog-to-analog and -12dBFS for analog-to-SPDIF conversion paths. Power consumption is 12V DC 190mA or 370mA when powering both units via Power Connect.
Connectivity is straightforward: one VGA 15-pin HD input and one unbalanced stereo audio 3.5mm input feed a single RJ-45 twisted pair output. The transmitter supports UTP or STP cabling such as CAT5 and mates with Kramer twisted pair receivers using standard RJ-45 connectors. EDID capture stores display EDID or uses a pre-programmed default to ensure proper video timing and compatibility.
