The ST-SH2 is a compact stereo headphone amplifier designed to drive headphones of any impedance from consumer or professional audio sources. It provides low noise and low distortion performance suitable for demanding audio environments. The module accepts balanced or unbalanced inputs and can be used in fixed level installations or with a mounted volume control.
The amplifier includes LEVEL ADJUST terminals for external stereo level control and can be wired to the wipers of a stereo 10 kO potentiometer for local volume adjustment. It supports bridging a line output to feed headsets and can drive both low and high impedance headphones. Gain is adjustable to match a variety of source levels.
Performance highlights include THD+N well below 0.005% and a typical 0.0015% at 1 kHz, ensuring clear and accurate audio. Frequency response extends from 20 Hz to 40 kHz within +/- 0.25 dB and dynamic range exceeds 115 dB. Noise is better than -100 dB below normal operating level and crosstalk is excellent across the audio band.
Connectivity is flexible with 10 kO balanced or unbalanced inputs and LEVEL ADJUST L and R terminals for external control. The module is ground-referenced and requires 24 Vdc at 200 mA for power. It drives output loads from 8 O to 5 kO, covering both low-impedance monitoring headphones and high-impedance models.
The ST-SH2 is ideal for broadcast studios, post production suites, and AV racks where precise headphone monitoring is required. It is suitable for fixed-level installations and for configurations that use a remote volume knob located up to 1 m from the module. The low noise, low distortion, and strong crosstalk performance make it well suited to critical listening tasks.
Installation is straightforward and the module integrates easily into systems using RDL modules or standard audio racks. The unit ships in a compact cardboard box sized 2 x 2 x 4 in and is rated for operation from 0° C to 55° C. Ground-referenced 24 Vdc power simplifies integration into professional AV installations.
