The ST-PD5U is a 24 Vdc power distribution module designed to provide controlled power distribution from a current-limited switching supply. It supplies up to five independent output points while managing inrush current at power-up. The unit prevents supply shutdown by ramping voltage during start-up to charge connected load capacitance in a controlled manner.
Key features include soft-start sequencing for switching supplies, reverse polarity protection and indicators for power presence and fault conditions. The ST-PD5U provides five distribution points and supports a total load current limit to protect the source and downstream devices. LEDs report healthy power and faulted output conditions for fast troubleshooting.
Electrical performance is centered on a 24 Vdc nominal output and a maximum aggregate current capacity of 2 A when used with the intended current-limited switching supplies. The fault LED indicates when an output is inactive due to excessive load current. The ambient operating range is 0 C to 50 C to suit typical equipment racks and AV environments.
Connectivity is simple: one input from a switching power supply and five isolated outputs to feed individual modules. The ST-PD5U can power RDL floating modules from a single unit while a separate ST-PD5U should be used for ground-referenced modules – do not intermix floating and ground-referenced modules on the same distributor. For linear supply distribution RDL recommends the ST-PD5 model instead.
Typical applications include powering multiple low-current modules in AV racks, distributed audio installations and control-system layouts where a switching supply is used. The soft-start feature prevents nuisance shutdowns caused by inrush charging of module input capacitors. Reverse polarity protection reduces installation risk and helps safeguard connected equipment during wiring errors.
Installation is straightforward and follows good engineering practice by originating each module power run at the supply output through the ST-PD5U. The unit ships in a compact cardboard box and requires minimal space in system layouts. Its robust protection and visual indicators simplify commissioning and ongoing maintenance tasks.
