Description
The ST-CX2 is a two-band active line-level crossover designed to drive audio power amplifiers and manage low-frequency distribution. It accepts a +4 dBu balanced line-level input and operates at nominal unity gain to preserve signal integrity. The unit provides separate full-range and woofer outputs to simplify amplifier zoning and system tuning.
The unit features adjustable equalization on both outputs to shape system response. The FULL RANGE output covers 100 Hz to 30 kHz with an EQ control centered at 2 kHz to apply a smile-curve up to 8 dB attenuation in midband frequencies. The WOOFER output offers a passband from 40 Hz to 165 Hz with a BOOST control centered at 50 Hz for low-frequency reinforcement.
Performance metrics include low distortion and high headroom to support demanding audio signals. The FULL RANGE path maintains THD+N below 0.075% across 100 Hz to 30 kHz and residual noise under -80 dB referenced to +4 dBu. The WOOFER path achieves THD+N below 0.025% from 40 Hz to 165 Hz and residual noise below -95 dB referenced to +4 dBu.
Connectivity is professional and flexible with balanced input and balanced outputs that may be used unbalanced if required. A LOOP THRU output is provided to feed an external subwoofer crossover such as the RDL ST-CX2S when integrating subs. The module uses RDL SupplyFlex power input, accepting ground-referenced, floating or bipolar 24 Vdc supplies for versatile installation options.
The ST-CX2 is suited to installations requiring separate amplification for woofers and full-range cabinets, including small PA systems and fixed installations. It improves system coherence by providing active low-frequency equalization and adjustable crossover behavior. The device is compact and low-power, making it appropriate for rack or equipment-box mounting where headroom and low noise are required.
Installation and setup are straightforward with front-panel controls and simple balanced connectors. The ST-CX2 draws only 40 mA from 24 Vdc and operates reliably in typical ambient conditions from 0 C to 55 C.
