The SquareRoot 6.5 is an outdoor planter that doubles as a weather-resistant 2-way speaker – designed to blend landscaping with distributed audio. It combines a 6.5in coaxial woofer and a 0.75in dome tweeter to deliver full-range sound from an unobtrusive planter form. The enclosure is rotation-molded polyethylene formulated for long-term UV stability and outdoor exposure.
This model includes a 64 watt transformer for integration into 70 volt distributed systems and offers selectable transformer taps for 25V / 70.7V / 100V operation. The acoustic design provides omnidirectional dispersion for even coverage around the planter while maintaining a nominal 4 ohm impedance for direct low-impedance connection when desired. Sensitivity measures allow efficient use with both low-power and higher-power amplifiers.
Acoustic performance is specified at 65 Hz – 20 kHz (±10 dB) and 76 Hz – 19.5 kHz (±3 dB), supporting clear mids and highs for background music and voice content. RMS power handling is 70 W with a 140 W program rating to handle dynamic material and transients. Measured sensitivity is 89 dB @ 1W/1M and 92 dB @ 2.83V/1M, indicating effective acoustic output for its size.
Connectivity is by wire leads and the included wire nuts simplify field wiring during installation. The planter includes drainage to remain a functional landscape element while protecting the driver assembly, and the transformer tap selector is accessible for site tuning.
