The SM82-EZ-II-WX is an 8 inch surface-mount loudspeaker engineered to deliver clear voice reproduction and background to foreground music coverage. It combines an 8.0 inch polypropylene woofer and an offset 1.0 inch aluminum dome tweeter to provide extended frequency response and high intelligibility. The WeatherX variant adds environmental protection for reliable outdoor and semi-exposed installations.
Key features include a 64-watt low-insertion-loss transformer with a six-position tap selector for 25/70.7/100V distributed systems plus a transformer bypass for 8 ohm direct-drive. The driver complement and tuned ported enclosure produce a measured sensitivity of 90 dB and maximum SPL of 108 dB at 1 m. Coverage is broad and consistent, with nominal 100° horizontal by 100° vertical dispersion across the mid/high band.
Technically the loudspeaker offers a -3 dB bandwidth from 90 Hz to 22 kHz and a -10 dB extension to 65 Hz, supporting both speech and music content. Crossover frequency is 2.5 kHz with 12 dB/octave second-order low-pass and high-pass networks. Nominal impedance is 8 ohms, maximum continuous RMS power handling is 64 W, and program power is 128 W, meeting common AV system design criteria.
Connectivity is handled via a four-pin 5.08 mm Euroblock connector that supports individual feed or daisy-chain wiring for zone distribution. The enclosure is injection-molded ABS with a powder-coated steel grille and a weatherproof terminal boot for wet-location readiness. A low-profile Stealth mounting bracket provides tool-free aiming up to 90 degrees for precise coverage alignment.
The SM82-EZ-II-WX is suitable for a variety of installations including outdoor covered patios, retail and hospitality areas, and corporate atriums where clear paging and background music are required. It reproduces spoken announcements with clarity while maintaining musical fidelity at moderate program levels. The wide dispersion pattern reduces the number of speakers required to achieve uniform coverage in many spaces.
