The SM82-EZ-II-WX is an 8 inch surface-mount loudspeaker engineered to deliver clear speech intelligibility and full-range music reproduction. It uses an offset 1 in aluminum dome tweeter and an 8 in polypropylene woofer to provide a broad frequency range and consistent coverage. The WeatherX variant provides environmental protection for outdoor or exposed indoor installations.
Key features include a dedicated 8 in woofer, a 1 in aluminum dome tweeter with an integrated waveguide, and a 64-watt low-insertion loss transformer. The speaker supports 25V, 70.7V and 100V constant-voltage systems and includes a transformer bypass for low impedance 8 ohm operation. Coverage is engineered to maintain consistent dispersion across the mid and high bands.
Performance specifications include a frequency response to 65 Hz at -10 dB and a specified -3 dB point at 90 Hz, 90 dB sensitivity, and a maximum SPL of 108 dB at 1 m. Power handling is defined as 64 W continuous RMS and 128 W program power which provides headroom for speech and music applications. Measured directivity and directivity index ensure predictable on- and off-axis performance for distributed systems.
Connectivity is provided via a four-pin 5.08 mm Euroblock connector enabling individual feed or daisy-chain wiring for multi-speaker deployments. The six-position tap selector offers easy selection of transformer taps for common commercial voltages while the transformer bypass position allows direct 8 ohm drive. The powder-coated steel grille and weather boot protect termination points in exposed installations.
Typical applications include background and foreground music zones, paging and messaging systems, retail environments, hospitality spaces, and covered outdoor areas. The speaker is UL 1480 listed for suitability in many commercial installations and the WeatherX treatment expands deployment options in semi-exposed locations. Its 100 deg nominal coverage pattern supports even coverage in both horizontal and vertical axes.
Installation is simplified by a low-profile Stealth bracket and a direct-drive cam-wedge that permits stable, tool-free aiming from 0 to 90 degrees. The included pre-mountable surface/pole bracket reduces install time and separates mounting from wiring tasks. Durable ABS enclosure construction and a powder-coated grille deliver a long service life in normal commercial and protected outdoor conditions.
