The SM52-EZ-WX is a weatherproof surface-mount loudspeaker engineered for reliable outdoor and indoor distributed audio. It combines a 5.25 inch polypropylene woofer with a 1.0 inch soft dome tweeter to deliver clear full-range sound across a wide bandwidth. The enclosure and grille are built to withstand exposure while maintaining acoustic performance.
Key features include SoundTube WX Weather Guard hydrophobic grille material that repels water and protects drivers and electronics. The loudspeaker includes a low-insertion-loss transformer with selectable taps for 25 V, 70.7 V and 100 V systems plus an 8 ohm transformer bypass for direct low-impedance connection. The grille is powder-coated stainless steel for corrosion resistance and long service life.
Performance specifications support music and speech applications with a frequency response of 80 Hz – 20 kHz (-3 dB) and extended response to 62 Hz – 22 kHz (-10 dB). The speaker has a sensitivity of 86.0 dB and a maximum SPL of 105.0 dB at 1 m, while rated RMS power capacity is 75 W. Nominal impedance is 8 ohm when used in bypass mode and the transducer combination yields controlled pattern coverage.
Connectivity is provided via a ceramic terminal strip for reliable wiring and a six-position selectable tap switch for quick selection of transformer taps. The unit is UL 1480 (UEAY) approved and has EN52-24 pending, meeting common regulatory expectations for installed audio. Conduit connector and port hole plug are included to support protected cable entry and compliant installations.
The SM52-EZ-WX is suited to patios, pool areas, plazas, retail canopies, and building exteriors where moisture resistance is required without sacrificing sound quality. Its 100 degree horizontal and vertical coverage provides even dispersion for background music and intelligible paging. The weatherguard design reduces maintenance by preventing moisture infiltration into the grille and driver area.
