The SM40NU-N is a 4-port Keyboard/Mouse (KM) KVM switch designed to let a single keyboard, mouse, audio and USB peripheral set control four separate computers in real time. It maintains electrical isolation between hosts and peripherals while enabling immediate switching and control. The unit supports clipboard-based copy paste and file transfer between connected systems.
Key features include four USB 3.0 console ports, 3.5 mm audio and microphone jacks, and USB Type B downstream connections for each host. The KM switch supports copy and paste of text and files across hosts without requiring a network connection. Multi-monitor systems are supported for up to four displays per computer in duplicate or extended modes when the driver is installed on Windows.
Technically the SM40NU-N provides low-latency peripheral sharing and full USB 3.0 bandwidth to connected devices via the console ports. It operates from a 12V DC external power supply and accepts 100 to 240V AC input. The device is certified to CE, RCM, FCC class B, VCCI, TUV US and TUV Canada standards and supports Windows, Linux and Mac operating systems.
Connectivity is simple: console-side USB Type A for keyboard and mouse, four USB Type A ports for USB 3.0 devices, and stereo audio plus microphone jacks. Each computer connects via USB Type B and 3.5 mm audio/microphone jacks. The unit also provides automatic host switching when a peripheral is attached to the host port to streamline workflows.
The SM40NU-N is suited to broadcast control rooms, secure labs, production suites and multi-system engineering benches where consolidated peripheral control and secure isolation are required. It enables operators to reduce hardware duplication and centralize control while preserving host separation. Copy and paste file transfer simplifies moving content between machines without needing network access.
