The SM400i is a 4-inch coaxial surface-mount speaker designed for indoor and outdoor fixed-install environments. It provides a consistent dispersion pattern across the mid and high frequencies for reliable coverage in distributed audio systems. The low-profile, ported enclosure balances compact aesthetics and extended low-frequency output.
Key features include a BroadBeam waveguide for consistent dispersion up to 10 kHz, a 1 inch titanium convex tweeter with FerroFluid cooling, and a 4 inch polypropylene woofer. The enclosure incorporates patented ZeroReflection technology to reduce internal standing waves and improve clarity. A five-position tap switch with a transformer bypass simplifies selection for 25/70.7/100-volt systems.
Performance specifications include a measured frequency response of 97 Hz to 22 kHz (-3 dB) and a wider nominal response to 76 Hz to 22 kHz (-1 dB). Sensitivity is 85.5 dB at 2.83V/1 m and 82.5 dB at 1 W/1 m, with a maximum SPL of 95.5 dB at 1 m. Power handling is rated at 20 W RMS continuous with 35 W program capability.
Connectivity is provided via a four-pin 5.08 mm Euroblock connector for individual or daisy-chained installations. The weather-proof five-position tap switch includes a transformer bypass position for 4-ohm direct-drive operation. Included port plugs and a terminal weather boot increase resistance to moisture ingress when used outdoors.
The SM400i suits retail, hospitality, education, and outdoor covered areas where speech intelligibility and even coverage are required. Its BroadBeam waveguide and controlled directivity make it effective for background music, paging, and distributed foreground audio in small to medium spaces. Vertical and horizontal mounting preserve aiming flexibility in a wide range of layouts.
Installation is simplified with the corrosion- and theft-resistant Stealth U-bracket that supports tool-free fasteners and a safety cable. The grille is iridite-plated aluminum with a protective powder-coat for long-term durability. The injection-molded glass-fiber reinforced ABS enclosure provides cabinet rigidity and weather resistance while remaining unobtrusive in most environments.
