The SID-X3N is a compact HDMI transmitter and Step-In commander designed to route computer graphics video, HDMI, DVI, DisplayPort and unbalanced stereo audio sources to an HDMI output. It enables a local presenter to become the active source using a dedicated Step-In button or contact closure. The unit is intended for AV environments that require simple local source insertion and signal conversion to HDMI.
Key capabilities include a 6.75 Gbps maximum data rate and support for HDMI features such as Deep Color, x.v.Color and 3D. The SID-X3N is HDTV compatible and functions with HDCP sources that support HDCP repeater mode. The unit also incorporates I-EDIDPro Intelligent EDID processing to simplify EDID management and support Plug and Play operation.
Performance features include data equalization and reclocking to preserve signal integrity across cable runs and automatic input detection based on video clock presence. The maximum Step-In distance is 50m (164ft) for 1080p@60Hz operation. Power is supplied by an external 12V DC adapter and typical power consumption is 950mA.
Connectivity covers 1 HDMI input, 1 DVI input via Molex 24-pin, 1 DisplayPort input, 1 UXGA (VGA) input on a 15-pin HD connector and an unbalanced stereo audio input on a 3.5mm jack. The unit provides 1 HDMI output and an unbalanced stereo audio output on a 3.5mm jack. It supports analog audio detection and embedding as well as local balanced audio de-embedding and common digital audio formats.
The SID-X3N is suited to boardrooms and presentation rooms where multiple laptop and desktop sources must be converted and locally presented through a central HDMI switcher such as the VS-62H. Programmable Step-In functionality is supported over HEC-enabled HDMI cables when used with compatible switchers, enabling coordinated local presenter control. Lockable EDID and automatic input selection simplify AV management in shared rooms.
Installation is straightforward – the compact MegaTOOLS form factor allows two units to be mounted side-by-side in a single 1U rack space using the RK-T2B adapter. Local Step-In switching is provided by a tactile button and a remote contact closure option for integration with room control systems. The SID-X3N is built for reliable everyday operation in commercial AV installations and requires an independent power supply for operation.
