Description
The RU-SQ6A is a six-step sequencing controller designed to manage ordered ON and OFF events in AV and broadcast installations. It provides controlled sequential activation and deactivation of up to six outputs to protect systems from inrush currents and ensure dependable startup order. The unit is compact and mounts into equipment racks or system enclosures.
Each step provides two output types – an open-collector output and an SPST relay contact – allowing direct drive of logic-level loads and dry-contact control of external devices. A single-turn front-panel TIMING INTERVAL control sets the delay between steps from 1 to 10 seconds. Front-panel LEDs indicate channel states, UP REQUEST, sequence COMPLETE, and whether front-panel or remote activation is selected.
Timing and supervision are managed by an internal microcontroller and the Sure-Lok supervisory latch that holds outputs active until the sequence is cancelled. Open-collector outputs support 50 mA continuous and 200 mA surge; relay outputs are SPST rated for up to 2 A switching and 3 A carrying current. The RU-SQ6A requires 24 Vdc power and supplies a 24 Vdc output rated to 1.1 A maximum.
Control and I/O connections use detachable rear-panel terminal blocks for clear wiring and installer-friendly access. The module accepts a remote ACTIVATE closure to initiate an UP REQUEST or can be operated by the front-panel SEQUENCE CONTROL pushbutton. A rear-panel mode switch selects front-panel or remote control and LEDs show the active control source.
Typical applications include staged power-up of amplifiers, processors, and other rack-mounted systems, controlled startup of cameras and recording devices, and sequencing of automation events in production environments. The RU-SQ6A reduces stress on power systems and connected equipment by sequencing energization and de-energization. It is suitable for permanent remote activation or local manual control.
Installation is straightforward with clearly labeled detachable terminal blocks, a single-turn timing knob, and visible status LEDs. The compact chassis, rated for 0 C to 50 C ambient, fits standard equipment racks and enclosures.
