The RU-NFDP is a rack-mountable network audio interface that converts Dante network audio channels to RDL Format-A outputs and a balanced auxiliary line output. It accepts Dante audio streams and provides three distributed Format-A RJ45 outputs plus a balanced +4 dBu AUX output. The unit supports 24-bit digital-to-analog conversion and professional audio levels for clean, broadcast-grade audio delivery.
The module maps three Dante channels to Format-A pairs A, B and C while routing a fourth Dante channel to the balanced AUX line output. Front-panel LEDs indicate received audio level for each network channel and network sync status, simplifying setup and troubleshooting. Each Format-A output jack provides up to 200 mA of power to connected Format-A receivers and includes individual power monitoring and automatic reset protection.
Audio performance is driven by high-resolution 24-bit converters and RDL analog filtering that yield a wide frequency response and low noise floor. The unit supports 44.1 kHz and 48 kHz sample rates and operates at -18 dBFS = +4 dBu nominal operating level. Measured performance includes frequency response within 20 Hz to 20 kHz and THD+N below 0.1%.
Connectivity includes a Dante RJ45 network port with link and speed indicators, three RDL Format-A RJ45 outputs and a detachable terminal block AUX output. The primary Format-A jack can supply power to remote Format-A receivers via PoE when connected to a PoE-enabled switch. An external 24 Vdc supply may power the unit and connected receivers across all three output jacks, and the unit will seamlessly switch between external supply and PoE as configured.
Typical applications include distributed audio in commercial installations, conferencing systems and houses of worship where Dante networks feed remote speaker modules or wall plates. The RU-NFDP is suitable for feeding multiple passive or active Format-A receivers either via daisy chaining or individual home-run connections. It supports long cable runs through Format-A receivers and maintains professional audio levels for integration into larger AV systems.
Installation is straightforward with rack, shelf or surface mounting options and simple RJ45 Format-A connections through CATx cable. Front-panel indicators simplify commissioning and fault finding while onboard power protection limits wiring faults from impacting the network. The all-metal enclosure and continuous-duty design provide reliable operation in commercial and industrial environments.
