Description
The RU-NFD is a Dante audio network interface that converts Dante network channels to RDL Format-A outputs and a balanced auxiliary line output. It provides three separate Format-A RJ45 outputs and a balanced detachable-block AUX output for professional audio distribution. The unit is packaged in an all-metal enclosure engineered for rack, shelf or surface mounting.
The module accepts four Dante channels and maps three channels to Format-A signal pairs A, B and C while the fourth channel is presented as a balanced +4 dBu AUX output. Front-panel variable-intensity LEDs show received audio level for each Dante input to aid setup without a networked PC. High-resolution 24-bit digital-to-analog conversion and RDL analog filters deliver low noise and accurate reproduction.
Supported sample rates include 44.1 kHz and 48 kHz with a 100 Mbps Ethernet interface and Dante protocol compatibility. Format-A and AUX outputs maintain flat frequency response across 20 Hz to 20 kHz with THD+N below 0.1 percent and greater than 18 dB of headroom above +4 dBu. Measured noise floors are very low with pair active below -85 dB and muted below -100 dB on Format-A pairs.
Connectivity includes a Dante RJ45 network port with link and speed indicators, three Format-A RJ45 outputs that supply up to 200 mA each, and a balanced detachable terminal block AUX output. The RU-NFD accepts 24 Vdc external power or PoE when using the RU-NFDP version, and each Format-A output is individually protected by an auto-resetting fuse. Network Sync and Link LEDs provide clear status information for system integration.
Typical applications include delivering networked Dante audio to distant Format-A receivers such as wall plates, powered speakers or rack receivers, distributing separate program channels across a facility, and providing a line-level feed to mixers or amplifiers. The device supports daisy chaining of Format-A receivers or home runs to multiple endpoints and powers many Format-A devices directly from its outputs. Outputs are muted when digital inputs are inactive to prevent noise or pops at endpoints.
Installation is straightforward for AV integrators and installers, with rack, shelf or surface mounting options and clear indicator LEDs for power, audio and network status. The RU-NFD is manufactured in the U.S.A. for continuous duty installations and uses durable metal construction for long-term reliability. PoE operation and external 24 Vdc power switching are handled seamlessly to maintain system uptime.
