The RS82-EZ is an 8 inch coaxial open-ceiling speaker engineered for distributed audio and foreground/background sound systems. It delivers a broad frequency response from 100 Hz to 22 kHz and a nominal 16 ohm impedance for easy low-voltage daisy-chaining. The housing and grille are weatherized for indoor or covered outdoor use – providing durable long-term performance.
Key features include a 203 mm polypropylene low-frequency driver and a 25 mm silk dome tweeter with BroadBeam Ring technology to maintain smooth high-frequency directivity. The speaker includes a 6-position tap selector with a transformer bypass position and a built-in thermal fuse for protection. The ABS injection molded enclosure is glass fiber reinforced and the aluminum grille has a powder coated finish for corrosion resistance.
Performance specifications include 92 dB sensitivity (1 W/1 m), 64 W continuous RMS power capacity, and 128 W maximum program power. Maximum SPL at 1 m is listed at 110 dB. The crossover is set at 2.5 kHz with 6 dB/octave 1st order low-pass and high-pass networks to preserve consistent coaxial driver integration.
Connectivity is provided by a 4-position ceramic terminal block and the unit ships with a terminal weather boot for exposed installations. The integrated hanging hardware and locking cover plate allow hanging or direct-to-conduit mounting for flexible installation. The 6-position rotary tap selector supports 25/70.7/100 Volt transformer taps when used in distributed line systems.
The RS82-EZ is suited to retail, hospitality, transit, and educational installations where discreet ceiling-mounted audio is required. It supports daisy-chained low-impedance arrays or constant-voltage distributed systems when the transformer taps are used. Weatherized components and a paintable grille make the speaker adaptable to a wide range of interior and semi-exterior environments.
Installation is simplified by included galvanized hanging cables, a hanging bracket, and a screw-on cover plate that locks for added protection. The unit ships in recyclable packaging and is UL 1480 UEAY and UL 2239 listed with CE and RoHS approvals. Its compact diameter and low profile height allow tight integration into open-ceiling architectures.
