The RS82-EZ is an 8 inch coaxial open-ceiling speaker designed for public address and background music systems. It delivers clear coverage from 100 Hz to 22 kHz and includes a built-in hanging bracket and screw-on cover plate for secure mounting. The speaker is available in black and white paintable finishes to match installation aesthetics.
The speaker integrates a 203 mm polypropylene cone low-frequency driver and a 25 mm silk dome tweeter with BroadBeam Ring technology for smooth high-frequency directivity. It incorporates a 6 position tap selector with transformer bypass and a 4 position ceramic terminal connector for straightforward connections. Weatherized components and an aluminum grille with powder coat finish extend the product life in indoor and protected outdoor spaces.
Performance specifications include 64 W RMS continuous power handling, 128 W program power, and a nominal 16 ohm impedance suitable for low-voltage daisy-chained systems. Sensitivity is rated at 89 dB at 2.83 V/1 m and 92 dB at 1 W/1 m, and maximum SPL reaches 110 dB at 1 m. Frequency response is 100 Hz to 22 kHz at -3 dB and 80 Hz to 22 kHz at -10 dB, supporting clear voice and music reproduction.
Connectivity is provided through a 4 position ceramic terminal connector and a tap selector that includes transformer bypass for direct voice-coil operation. The unit ships with a terminal weather boot to protect connections in exposed environments. The enclosure is injection-molded ABS reinforced with glass fiber for durability and may be mounted direct-to-conduit via the locking cover plate or suspended using the included hanging hardware.
Typical applications include retail background music, hospitality paging, transit shelters, and outdoor covered areas where open-ceiling installation and reliable coverage are required. The BroadBeam Ring tweeter helps maintain consistent tonal balance across listening zones, improving intelligibility and even SPL distribution. The 16 ohm option simplifies chaining multiple speakers where transformer taps are not required.
Installation and serviceability are simplified by the included galvanized steel hanging cables, hanging bracket, and screw-on cover plate. A built-in thermal fuse protects the transducers under fault conditions and the unit ships in recyclable packaging.
