The RS42-EZ is a 4-inch coaxial open-ceiling speaker designed to deliver clear voice and music reproduction in open ceiling environments. The speaker is built for indoor or outdoor use thanks to weatherized components and a durable injection molded ABS enclosure. Its compact footprint and hanging hardware simplify deployment in a variety of spaces.
Key features include a 4-inch polypropylene low frequency driver and a 19mm silk dome high frequency driver with BroadBeam Ring technology – this combination maintains smooth high frequency directivity and consistent coverage. A 6-position rotary tap selector with transformer bypass and a 20 Watt transformer allow use on 25/70.7/100 Volt systems or low-impedance 16 ohm chains. The unit also includes a built-in thermal fuse and an aluminum powder coated grille for long-term reliability.
Performance specifications include a frequency response of 140 Hz to 22 kHz (-3 dB) and sensitivity rated at 84.0 dB measured at 2.83 V/1 m. Maximum program power is 40 W with an RMS rating of 20 W and a maximum SPL of 100.0 dB at 1 m. The crossover is set at 4.5 kHz and the network slopes are 12 dB per octave low pass and 6 dB per octave high pass.
Connectivity is handled via a 4-position ceramic terminal connector and the 6-position rotary tap switch provides transformer taps and a bypass position for direct voice coil connection. The included hanging bracket, galvanized hanging cables and screw-on cover plate enable secure hanging or direct-to-conduit mounting via the locking cover plate. Color options are black or white and the finish is paintable for integration with ceiling surfaces.
The RS42-EZ suits background music, paging, and general paging applications in retail, hospitality, transportation hubs and outdoor covered areas. Its BroadBeam Ring high frequency dispersion helps achieve consistent coverage across open ceilings while minimizing hot spots. Daisy-chaining multiple 16 ohm units simplifies low-voltage system layouts and reduces amplifier channel requirements.
Installation and serviceability are streamlined by the unit’s integrated hanging hardware and simple tap switch access – installers can hang the speaker or mount it directly to conduit using the included cover plate. The enclosure is glass fiber reinforced ABS for durability and the speaker ships in recyclable packaging. UL and CE approvals support code-compliant installations.
