The RS42-EZ is a 4 inch coaxial open-ceiling speaker engineered for distributed audio in open plenum and exposed-ceiling environments. It delivers clear full-range coverage from 140 Hz to 22 kHz and is offered in a paintable black finish. The enclosure and components are weatherized for indoor and covered outdoor installations.
The speaker features a 4 inch polypropylene low frequency driver and a 19 mm silk dome high frequency driver with BroadBeam Ring technology for consistent high frequency directivity. A 6 position tap switch with transformer bypass supports both low impedance and 25/70.7/100 volt constant-voltage systems. The unit includes a built-in hanging bracket and screw-on locking cover plate for secure mounting and fast deployment.
Performance specifications include a nominal impedance of 16 ohm, sensitivity of 84 dB @ 2.83 V/1 m, rated RMS power of 20 W and a 40 W program power handling. The speaker achieves a maximum SPL of 100 dB at 1 m and maintains usable response down to 140 Hz (-3 dB). The internal network uses a 4.5 kHz crossover, 12 dB/octave low pass and 6 dB/octave high pass sections to preserve clarity across listening zones.
Connectivity is provided via a 4 position ceramic terminal block input connector and a 6 position rotary tap selector with a transformer bypass position for direct voice coil operation. The included 20 W transformer supports 25/70.7/100 V taps for integration into distributed paging and background music systems. The cover plate enables direct-to-conduit mounting while the hanging hardware includes galvanized steel cables for suspended installations.
Typical applications include retail and hospitality open-ceiling zones, covered outdoor areas, transportation terminals and paging/voice evacuation circuits where background music and clear speech reproduction are required. The 16 ohm impedance option simplifies daisy chaining in low-voltage installations while transformer taps allow easy integration into constant-voltage infrastructures. Weatherized components extend usable deployment options to covered exterior locations.
