The RS20N-4 is a secure multi-domain smart-card reader that allows a single smart card to be used across multiple PCs simultaneously. It is designed to reduce smart-card provisioning and administrative overhead while enforcing immediate de-association on card removal. The unit is NIAP Common Criteria PP4.0 compliant for Peripheral Sharing Switch devices.
Key features include multi-domain access for up to two computers on the RS20N-4 family variant, auto-lock behavior on card removal, and tamper detection with audible and visual indicators. The reader supports ISO7816 Class A and AB smart cards and both T=0 and T=1 protocols. LEDs provide channel status and the transducer provides user warnings up to 65 dB.
Technical performance includes communication speeds up to 344,105 bps and clock frequencies up to 12 MHz using PPS parameters. The sliding 8-contact connector is rated for 150,000 insertions providing long life for regular use. The device is CCID compliant and PC/SC compatible to ensure broad OS support.
Connectivity is provided via USB Type-A cables to host computers and a DC input for the external 12 VDC power supply. The unit uses USB Type B host ports internally and supplies 1 m USB Type-A lead per connected computer. Supported operating systems include Windows XP and later, Linux and Mac OS.
