The KONA 1-S-R0 is a low-profile single-channel SDI I/O capture and playback card designed for broadcast, post and ProAV workflows. It provides professional 3G/1.5G-SDI connectivity for 2K/HD/SD formats and supports up to 60p frame rates. The card includes reference and LTC input plus RS-422 machine control for integration with systems that require external sync and shuttle control.
This PCIe 2.0 card supports full-size SDI inputs and outputs with 16-channel embedded audio and VPID signaling for SDR/HDR metadata. It supports RGB 4:4:4 12-bit and YCbCr 4:2:2 10-bit color paths where the host application supports those bit depths. HDR formats including PQ, HLG and Dolby Vision metadata capture and auto playback detection are supported over SDI.
Performance covers a wide range of video formats including 2K 2048x1080p and 2K PsF, 1080i/PsF/p up to 60p, 720p, and legacy SD resolutions. Audio is carried as 16-channel 24-bit embedded SDI at 48 kHz synchronous. The card uses a 2-lane PCIe 2.0 electrical interface suitable for single-channel 3G-SDI workflows and reliable continuous capture.
Connectivity includes 2x 3G-SDI BNC spigots (input and output), an external 9-pin RS-422 connector for machine control using the Sony protocol, and a reference/LTC input that accepts analog color black or HD tri-level sync plus LTC. The card is compatible with major creative and post tools and integrates via AJA drivers and SDKs. Standard application plug-ins are available for leading NLE and capture applications.
Typical use cases include ingest servers, editorial suites, color grading bays and OEM integration where a compact single-channel SDI interface is required. The card supports simultaneous monitoring during capture via SDI pass-through and is suitable for ingest, editing and visual effects workflows. HDR metadata capture and auto playback detection help maintain color accuracy across production stages.
Installation is straightforward in systems with available low-profile PCIe slots and the card ships with AJA software support and SDKs for developers. The low-profile form factor and durable build make it suitable for rackmount workstations and small form factor builds.
