The PG8308A is an intelligent outlet-metered and switched PDU in a 1U rack enclosure designed for high-density IT racks and data centers. It delivers eight NEMA 5-20R outlets and supports 100 – 120 VAC input at up to 30A. The PDU pairs per-outlet control with accurate kWh metering to improve energy management and uptime.
Key features include per-outlet switching and metering, precise kWh measurement with 1% accuracy, and an ARM Cortex-A8 processor for responsive local control. The front LCD provides real-time readings and color-coded alerts for critical, alert, and warning events. Energy-saving relays and a hydraulic-magnetic circuit breaker enhance efficiency and protection.
Technically the unit accepts a NEMA L5-30P input and delivers up to 3600 VA (3600VA Max, 2880VA UL) across eight outlets rated 20A max per outlet (16A UL). The PDU powers connected equipment within 10 seconds of connection and reports aggregate and per-outlet metrics including current, voltage, power, power factor, and kWh. Metering and monitoring enable threshold setting and proactive overload protection.
Connectivity options include dual Gigabit LAN ports for Internet and Intranet, RS-232 COM port for CLI access, USB WiFi dongle support, and an RJ-45 sensor port that supports daisy-chaining up to eight EA1640 environment sensors. The unit supports SNMP v1/v2/v3, Modbus over TCP/IP, JSON-RPC and Python scripting, and integrates with ATEN eco DC for DCIM.
The PG8308A is ideal for server rooms, enterprise racks, and network closets where centralized outlet-level control and energy visibility are required. It enables scheduled control, power-on sequencing, Wake-on-LAN and sensor-triggered outlet actions to protect equipment and enforce power policies. Secure outlet locks reduce accidental unplugging and improve rack reliability.
Installation is simplified by the compact 1U design, rotatable LCD for flexible in-rack viewing, and firmware upgrade via web GUI or USB. The build incorporates safety certifications and a UL-rated circuit breaker design to maintain stable distribution and high availability.
