The OG-HA5-12G is an openGear card that converts HDMI 2.0 video into single-link 12G-SDI for 4K and UltraHD workflows. It accepts HDMI 2.0b inputs and provides two mirrored 12G-SDI outputs supporting up to 4K/60p. This card is designed for professional broadcast racks where reliable format conversion and distribution are required.
Key capabilities include support for 4:4:4, 4:2:2 and 4:2:0 color sampling at up to 60 frames per second and optional 12-bit color workflows. The OG-HA5-12G provides EDID emulation to lock preferred formats from a source and real-time HDR infoframe reporting for accurate metadata handling. It also offers embedded audio routing and pass-through of compressed audio formats including AC-3 and E-AC-3.
Technically, the card features an equalized HDMI Type A input compatible with HDMI v2.0b and two 12G-SDI BNC outputs that follow SMPTE 259/292/424/2081/2082 standards. Resolution and frame rate support includes 4096×2160 and 3840×2160 up to 60p, multiple HD and SD formats, and optional 12-bit output modes where supported. Note that HDCP decryption is not supported and SDI outputs remain unencrypted.
Connectivity and control are tailored for integrated rack systems – the OG-HA5-12G is openGear compliant and monitored via Ross DashBoard over Ethernet. The card supports analog pair inputs for embedding balanced audio and can pass through Dolby formats including Atmos JOC. Optional fiber variants are available for longer link distances and the modular rear I/O allows custom connectors per installation.
Typical applications include broadcast contribution, live event encoding, and studio signal distribution where single-link 12G-SDI is required from HDMI sources. It is suitable for cinematic 4K sources as well as UltraHD broadcast feeds where color fidelity and HDR metadata integrity matter. The device simplifies signal chain design by combining format conversion, EDID management and audio embedding in a single openGear card.
Installation is straightforward in any openGear frame and the card occupies two frame slots with a 14 watt maximum power draw per card. The unit provides LED source status for quick diagnostics and supports standard operating conditions from 0 to 40 C. Firmware and monitoring via DashBoard provide remote management and fast integration into existing systems.
