The Road to Las Vegas: What to Expect at NAB Show 2026

We’re Almost There!

April is coming! We are less than a month away from April and with April comes the NAB Show! The global entertainment community is setting their sights on the Las Vegas Convention Center for April 18th-22nd as the NAB Show will be returning to Las Vegas. If you’re not familiar with NAB, this is the premiere show for broadcasting, content creation and distribution of anything video or broadcast related.

Coming hot on the heels of a massive $600 million renovation of the Central Hall, this year’s show is going to be one of the most significant in years as it will be taking full advantage of the newly renovated space. Here is a look at the major themes, technologies, and shifts we expect to see on the show floor.

1. From Novelty to Necessity: The AI “Agents” Takeover

We all know that AI has been all the rage. For the last few years you couldn’t get away from hearing Artificial Intelligence or AI in any keynote or presentation, and this year is not going to be much different, except that it is. The technology has continued to develop and it’s getting more and more embedded into different workflows in software like Adobe’s Suite or other platforms like Microsoft’s OS. This year we expect to see the move from generative assistants to full blown autonomous AI agents.

This would include duties like managing several step processes from start to finish such as highlight creation for live sports to metadata governance. The current conversation has been shifting from “What can AI do?” to “How can we manage and scale the AI that we’re already using in our tasks?”

2. A Reimagined Home for TV and Radio

With the newly renovated Central Hall comes a new home for TV and Radio HQ and it’s going to be front and center. The TV and Radio HQ has been a long standing central location for broadcast-focused content and broadcasters to shake hands and get down to brass tacks. This new location is going to offer the HQ Theater, which is going to be responsible for constant sessions and live conversations to talk about the trends that are shaping the future of the broadcast profession

3. The Year of the Sports “Jewel” Events

2026 is a massive year for sports, bookended by the FIFA World Cup and the Winter Olympics and as such the Sports Summit at NAB has been extended to be four days.

We’d expect to see a more focus on “Jewel Event” kits for sports— these are modular, remote data centers that can be pallet-loaded and set up within hours. We have seen a lot more of sports media transition from “broadcast” to “streamcast,” so look out for innovations in:

  • Digital Shooting Experiences: AI-enabled fan engagement tools.
  • Low-Latency Streaming: Technologies that protect revenue through anti-piracy while delivering 4K/120Hz live feeds.
  • Immersive Stadium Tech: Using 5G and XR to bring the field closer to the fan.

4. Software-Defined Everything

Live Production over IP has continued to see a lore more maturing in the last few years. 2026 is no different, especially with the release of NDI 6.3. The 2026 show will likely highlight a push toward more solutions that decouple the industry from traditional vendor lock-ins.

Cloud environments and interoperable standards are continuing to become stronger options in the broadcast world and more importantly they give production teams the flexibility to create a full broadcast gallery in the cloud and shut it down just as fast.

Key Sessions and Personalities to Watch

The 2026 speaker lineup reflects the convergence of traditional media and the creator economy. Major highlights include:

  • The Business of Entertainment: Discussions featuring leaders from WWE (including Nick Khan and Paul “Triple H” Levesque) on global talent development and innovative storytelling.
  • The Creator Economy: Keynotes from digital pioneers like the team from Smosh and YouTube Creator Liaisons, focusing on how traditional media and individual creators are collaborating.
  • Engineering Excellence: The NAB BEIT (Broadcast Engineering and IT) Conference will tackle the “unstructured data” challenge, helping organizations turn archives into searchable, monetizable assets.

Summary: A Converged Future

These are just a few of the things to look forward to at NAB. Of course there will be more like new camera releases, new audio solutions, crazy camera rigs for cars, amazing new drone technology and much more. It’s truly an exciting time, and the NAB 2026 Show is going to be an awe inspiring convergence of technology and storytelling.

Planning your trip?

Exhibits will be open from April 19–22. Whether you are looking for the latest in 16K infrastructure or just want to see how AI is reshaping the newsroom, NAB 2026 is the place where the future of media becomes reality.
