Description
The KONA 5 PCIe card is a high-bandwidth capture and playback solution engineered for multi-format video production. It provides bidirectional 12G-SDI I/O plus a full-size HDMI 2.0 monitor output. The card supports 10-bit video paths and application-dependent 12-bit color for accurate color workflows.
KONA 5 handles 4K/UltraHD up to 50/60 fps and supports 4:4:4 and 4:2:2 color arrangements. The board includes HDR10 and HLG metadata passthrough over HDMI, plus HFR support for high frame rate monitoring. It also supports embedded and AES/EBU audio channels for multi-channel workflows.
Performance specifications include single-link 12G/6G/3G-SDI capture and quad 3G-SDI configurations for 4K, dual-link and single-link HD operation, and 1D LUT support. Bit depth options are 8-bit, 10-bit and application-dependent 12-bit formats. KONA 5 offers low-latency PCIe connectivity suited to real-time compositing and live production.
Connectivity includes four bidirectional 12G-SDI ports, a full-size HDMI 2.0 output, reference input, RS-422 machine control on a 9-pin connector and an included breakout cable for AES, LTC and RS-422. Audio I/O supports up to 16 channels embedded SDI and 8 channels AES/EBU on the breakout. The board is supported on macOS, Windows and Linux platforms by compatible host applications.
KONA 5 is designed for post production, broadcast, live compositing, virtual sets and graphics workflows where synchronized multi-channel capture and monitoring are required. It supports locking to external reference and provides LTC in/out for timecode accuracy. The card’s HDR and Deep Color capabilities allow consistent delivery across HDR10 and HLG-enabled displays.
The card installs into a standard PCIe slot and is powered by the PCIe bus in this SKU. It measures approximately 0.75″ x 6.9″ x 5.0″ and consumes 22W typical, 24W maximum. KONA 5 is built for dependable studio use with controlled operating temperature and humidity ranges and robust connector options for integration into production racks.
