The KMU-300 is a portable 4K multicamera touchscreen switcher designed to centralize live production tasks including switching, streaming, recording and camera control. It accepts UHD 4K HDMI input and enables the operator to crop regions of interest on a 14 inch capacitive display to create multiple virtual camera angles. The unit is optimized for live broadcasts where a compact, all-in-one control surface is preferred.
Key capabilities include built-in PTZ camera control via joystick and zoom knob, gesture-based touch control, and the ability to generate multiple HD shots from a single 4K source. The touchscreen interface simplifies framing and switching, while external PTZ control provides precise pan, tilt and zoom adjustments. The KMU-300 also supports portrait and landscape program modes for flexible output formats.
Streaming and recording are integrated on the KMU-300 – it can stream using the SRT protocol to improve delivery over unstable networks and simultaneously record locally to an SD card. The internal encoder supports h.264 recording and can stream to two direct destinations or use Datavideo’s dvCloud service for multi-platform distribution. Real-time statistics help monitor each source and destination during a live event.
Audio embedding is supported from multiple sources including RCA and XLR inputs as well as camera and PC audio, with mixer controls for level adjustment. Dedicated HDMI inputs and outputs for presenter PC signals allow directors to switch and monitor slides and presenter content without additional converters. Network connectivity enables encoder configuration and integrated streaming control from the touchscreen surface.
Typical use cases include small studio productions, panel interviews, houses of worship and corporate events where reducing camera count and streamlining operation are priorities. The KMU-300 can convert one UHD camera into multiple HD angles, making it useful for socially distanced setups or limited camera crews.
