The KDS-17EN-SW2 is an AVoIP switcher encoder designed to stream 4K video and multi-channel audio over Ethernet and fiber networks. It encodes and switches sources to unicast or multicast destinations while preserving 4K60 4:4:4 video fidelity. The unit supports professional audio formats and low-latency control channels for demanding AV environments.
Key capabilities include visually lossless video compression, support for HDR10 up to 4K30 4:2:2 12-bit, and integrated Dante audio streaming. The device provides USB 3.0 hosts and device ports including USB-C charging support when used with an optional power adapter. Control interfaces include IR, RS-232, CEC and an embedded web UI plus P3K API for automation.
Performance specifications deliver peak bitrates up to 850 Mbps and efficient typical 4K streaming around 350 Mbps. The encoder preserves full 4K60 4:4:4 resolution and supports a wide range of resolutions and refresh rates. Audio support includes LPCM up to 7.1 24-bit 192 kHz, Dolby formats and DTS variants for consistent multi-channel playback.
Connectivity covers HDMI input and output, RJ-45 Ethernet, SFP optical/copper transceiver support, balanced audio on a 5-pin terminal block, RS-232 on a 3-pin terminal block, IR on a 3.5 mm TRS and multiple USB ports. Network modes include Layer 2 multicast with IGMP snooping and unicast UDP streaming. The unit supports PoE+ and optional 20V DC power supplies for flexible deployment.
Typical applications include command and control rooms, enterprise AV distribution, large-scale education deployments and low-latency KM/KVM scenarios. The KDS-17EN-SW2 is suited to systems that require simultaneous streams to many displays, centralized media distribution, and synchronized audio via Dante. It is engineered to integrate with existing IT infrastructure and scalable AV-over-IP architectures.
Installation and operation are simplified by a compact aluminum enclosure with convection ventilation, front-panel LCD and navigation buttons, and embedded management pages. The product supports 802.1x, HTTPS and AES256 encryption for secure streaming. With PoE+ support and optional USB-C PD charging when used with the PS-2006 adapter, the device provides flexible power options for varied installation environments.
