The KDS-100EN-U is an open-standard AVoIP encoder designed to deliver high-quality 4K video distribution over 1GbE networks. It encodes HDMI sources using H.264 and H.265 codecs and supports up to 3840×2160@60Hz 4:2:2 streaming. The unit provides ultra-low latency and channel-based routing for simplified source selection.
Key capabilities include simultaneous dual streaming, allowing a primary 4K stream and a secondary 1080p stream to be sent concurrently. The encoder also provides integrated KVM over IP so keyboard and mouse control can be extended to remote decoders. Enterprise-grade security features such as HTTPS/TLS and 802.1x are built in to support IT-managed deployments.
In terms of performance the KDS-100EN-U supports maximum input/output at 3840×2160@60Hz 4:4:4 and streaming up to 3840×2160@60Hz 4:2:2. Typical low-latency operation is approximately 40 ms and bitrates are adjustable across a 1-60 Mbps range. Dual streaming modes allow a primary stream up to 4K@30Hz 4:2:2 and a secondary stream up to 1080p@60Hz 4:2:2.
Connectivity includes HDMI I/O, balanced audio on 5-pin terminal blocks, PoE+ enabled RJ-45 for media and control, LC fiber for 1000BASE-SX/LX, RS-232 control and extension ports, and a USB-B host port. The device integrates with Kramer AVoIP Manager for discovery, centralized configuration and monitoring. Multicast support uses IGMPv2 to interoperate with standard network infrastructures.
Typical use cases include command and control rooms where low latency and KVM are required, campus and enterprise AV distribution over existing network infrastructure, recording workflows that use the secondary stream for archive, and lecture capture or overflow spaces where multiple resolution streams are beneficial. Channel-based routing simplifies operations in meeting rooms and public venues.
Installation is streamlined by predefined deployment profiles and front panel channel selection buttons along with embedded web UI and P3K API control via Ethernet. The unit supports PoE+ or an optional 12V DC/5A power source and operates in standard commercial environments with operating temperatures from 0 to 40 C. The compact form factor and recessed reset button support tidy, reliable installations.
