The KDS-100DEC-U is a 1GbE AVoIP decoder designed to deliver low-latency 4K video over open-standard H.264 and H.265 streams. It decodes high-quality 4K@60 signals and outputs to local HDMI displays while supporting a secondary 1080p confidence stream. This unit provides real-time responsiveness and is suited to environments that require precise video and control.
The decoder supports dual-stream workflows – a primary 4K stream and a secondary 1080p stream – and includes KVM over IP for remote keyboard and mouse control. It provides channel-based routing and predefined deployment profiles for fast configuration. The device integrates with Kramer AVoIP Manager for centralized discovery, configuration, and monitoring.
Technical capabilities include hardware decoding of H.264 and H.265 streams, a maximum streaming resolution of 3840×2160@60Hz 4:2:2, and a reported ultra-low latency of about 40msec when paired with compatible encoders. Bit rate can be set between 1 and 60 Mbps and the decoder supports primary stream delivery up to 4K@30Hz and a secondary 1080p@60Hz feed. These performance parameters make it suitable for live monitoring and operator consoles.
Connectivity includes HDMI input and HDMI output, balanced audio I/O on 5-pin terminal blocks, dual USB-A host ports for HID devices, RS-232 control and extension ports, RJ-45 media/control LAN with PoE+, and optional fiber via LC connectors supporting 1000BASE-SX/LX. Network transport supports multicast IGMPv2 and streaming protocols such as RTP/RTSP/SRT/RTMP/MPEG-TS. Security features include HTTPS/TLS, 802.1x and OWASP-10 aligned practices.
Typical applications include operator workstations and control rooms where low latency and KVM are essential, campus and enterprise AV systems requiring flexible source-to-screen routing, and recording or confidence monitoring using the secondary stream. The decoder also fits classroom and corporate signage scenarios where channel-based routing simplifies source selection. It supports constrained network modes for deployments on limited bandwidth links.
Installation and management are streamlined via PoE+ support or an optional 12V DC power supply, front-panel channel selection, and embedded web pages plus a P3K API for automation. The unit is compact and rack-friendly and includes LEDs for link and network status and a recessed factory reset. Firmware updates and centralized control through Kramer AVoIP Manager simplify lifecycle management and diagnostics.
