Description
The HP1290i is a 12-inch coaxial hanging open-ceiling speaker designed to deliver high SPL output and broad coverage. It pairs a treated fiber cone low-frequency driver with a coaxial mylar compression driver to produce extended response across the audio band. The enclosure uses injection-molded glass-filled ABS for structural rigidity and weather resistance.
Key features include a patented BroadBeamHP waveguide for consistent dispersion, a 12-inch treated fiber cone low-frequency driver, and a 35 mm mylar compression driver mounted concentrically. The system offers high sensitivity and efficiency to minimize required amplification. A five-position tap selector supports 25/70.7/100-volt distributed systems or transformer bypass for low-impedance use.
Performance specifications include a sensitivity of 96 dB (1 W/1 m), frequency response of 77 Hz to 19 kHz (-3 dB) and extended response to 59 Hz – 22 kHz (-10 dB). Maximum continuous power handling is rated at 150 W RMS with 300 W program power and a peak SPL of 118 dB at 1 m. Coverage is broadly controlled with averaged directivity producing approximately 100 degrees dispersion in the 2-10 kHz band.
Connectivity is handled via a four-pin 5.08 mm Euroblock for individual or daisy-chain wiring and a weather boot for terminal protection. The included UL 2239 rated hanging hardware provides independent safety and hanging cables and a Euroblock connector for secure termination. The low-loss 150-watt transformer permits distributed system use while maintaining audio fidelity.
Typical applications include retail and hospitality ceiling distribution, live sound reinforcement in public venues, and outdoor covered installations where weatherized components are required. The speaker’s high efficiency and high-SPL capability make it suitable in systems where fewer devices are required to cover large areas. BroadBeamHP dispersion reduces the total number of speakers needed to achieve even coverage.
Installation and maintenance are simplified by the pendant mounting hardware and an optional surface-mount adapter for surface applications. The steel grille is impact resistant and the finish is available in factory white or black with custom color options available. UL 1480 and 2239 approvals and RoHS and CE compliance support code and regulatory requirements.
