Description
The HP1290i is a 12 inch coaxial open-ceiling pendant speaker engineered for high-SPL sound reinforcement applications. It combines a 12 inch treated fiber low-frequency driver and a coaxial 35 mm mylar compression driver for extended frequency coverage. The speaker is offered in black and is built for both indoor and outdoor installations.
Key features include the patented BroadBeamHP waveguide for even dispersion across the mid and high band, a high-efficiency 96 dB sensitivity rating, and a ported ZeroReflection enclosure for improved low-frequency output. The unit includes a low-loss 150 watt transformer and a five-position rotary tap selector for 25/70.7/100 volt systems or transformer bypass. Weatherized components and a powder-coated steel grille improve longevity in exposed environments.
Performance specifications include a frequency response of 77 Hz to 19 kHz (-3 dB) and 59 Hz to 22 kHz (-10 dB), a nominal impedance of 8 ohm, and maximum continuous RMS power of 150 W with 300 W program power. Maximum SPL at 1 m is 118 dB and sensitivity is 96 dB @ 1 W/1 m, enabling fewer amplification resources for given coverage. Directivity metrics and averaged coverage specify a broad 100 degree effective dispersion across 2-10 kHz for consistent audience coverage.
Connectivity and system integration are simplified by a four-pin 5.08 mm Euroblock input suitable for daisy chaining and a terminal weather boot for outdoor wiring protection. The included hanging hardware meets UL 2239 and the tap selector provides transformer taps for common distributed audio voltages. An optional surface-mount bracket is available where pendant mounting is not desired.
The HP1290i is suited to public address, distributed background music, and live sound reinforcement where high SPL and wide coverage are required. It is commonly used in atriums, retail spaces, houses of worship, and outdoor covered areas where ceiling or pendant mounting is preferred. The BroadBeamHP waveguide reduces dropouts and provides uniform coverage across seating areas.
Installation is straightforward using the included UL-rated hanging and safety cables plus the Euroblock connector and terminal weather boot for secure wiring. The enclosure is injection molded glass-filled ABS for rigidity and long-term performance and the grille is impact-resistant steel with powder coat finish. The HP1290i balances durable construction and serviceable connectivity to support professional AV installations.
