The HA5-12G-T is an HDMI 2.0 to 12G-SDI conversion and fiber transmission mini-converter designed to extend 4K/UltraHD signals over long distances. It converts HDMI 2.0b sources up to 4K/60p and provides a mirrored 12G-SDI output for routing or monitoring. The unit ships with a 12G LC Fiber SFP preinstalled to support long-range singlemode links.
Key capabilities include support for 4:4:4 4:2:2 and 4:2:0 chroma formats at up to 60 frames per second and 12-bit color depth. The converter decodes HDR infoframes per HDMI v2.0b and CTA-861-G standards to preserve HDR metadata. It also supports HDMI EDID emulation and simple frame rate conversion between fractional and integer rates.
Audio handling is comprehensive – embedded audio may be selected from the HDMI input or an analog audio input and compressed formats such as AC-3 and E-AC-3 are passed through, including DD+ Atmos. The unit supports Two Sample Interleave (2SI) mapping for 4K sources and retains full 12G-SDI single-link throughput. Configuration is available via the USB port using AJA’s Mini-Config utility.
Connectivity includes an HDMI 2.0b input, dual mirrored 12G-SDI outputs, a single LC fiber SFP transmitter slot populated with FiberLC-1T-12G, analog audio input, and USB for control. Power is supplied by the included DWP-U-R1 universal power supply. The front panel Lock LED indicates detected SDI rate by color to simplify signal verification on-site.
The HA5-12G-T is suitable for live production, OB trucks, broadcast facilities, and rental houses where long-reach uncompressed 4K delivery is required. It integrates into SDI infrastructures while preserving HDR and high color-fidelity workflows. Monitor and control options include AJA Mini-Config locally and compatibility with third-party control systems.
