The HA5-12G is an HDMI 2.0 to 12G-SDI converter designed to convert and distribute 4K/UltraHD HDMI sources to single-link 12G-SDI outputs. It accepts HDMI 2.0b inputs up to 4K 60p and provides two mirrored 12G-SDI outputs for integration into SDI infrastructures. The unit supports HDR metadata handling to preserve high dynamic range content across the signal chain.
Key capabilities include support for 4:4:4, 4:2:2 and 4:2:0 chroma sampling and up to 12-bit color workflows where supported. The HA5-12G embeds audio from HDMI or from the two-channel RCA analog inputs and can pass through compressed audio formats such as AC-3 and E-AC-3 including Atmos JOC. EDID emulation and simple frame rate conversion make it practical for mixed-source environments.
Technically the converter supports a wide range of input formats from SD through 4K and UltraHD at common frame rates including fractional and integer rates up to 60p. Video output options include 12G-SDI native single-link along with 6G, 3G, 1.5G and SD outputs depending on source mapping. HDR infoframe analysis and VPID generation allow metadata pass-through or override to maintain correct colorimetry and transfer characteristics.
Connectivity is straightforward with a single HDMI Type A input, two 12G-SDI BNC outputs, a USB port for configuration via AJA Mini-Config, and dual RCA analog audio inputs for embedding. The power input accepts 5-16 VDC and ships with a universal power supply for global use. LED indicators provide quick visual feedback on input raster type to simplify setup.
